The Manitou Group has announced it will be offering the Gehl backhoe loader range in Oceania, starting with the Gehl BL818S 4WD
- 67kW engine
- Side mounted backhoe
- Power shuttle transmission
There are five models in the Gehl backhoe range and Manitou says they’ve been tailored to the conditions experienced in the Asia-Pacific region. The first model to go on sale in Australia will be the Gehl BL818S 4WD, expected to arrive in late 2017.
“The Gehl backhoe loader is a no-frills backhoe that is proven in the world’s harshest temperatures and environments,” Manitou Australia managing director Stuart Walker says.
“It’s a machine that is dependable, offers high level of performance and when it comes to value it blows the market away.”
The 7.5-tonne BL818S is powered by a 67kW Tier 3A Perkins engine. The loader has a side shift mounted backhoe with an extendable arm, with a maximum dig depth of 2602mm. The BL818 uses a Carraro power shuttle transmission with four forward and four reverse gears.
Hydraulic power is supplied through a 142lpm Cassapa pump which delivers around 225 bar of pressure to the bucket, which translates to around 4,756kgf of breakout force. The hydraulic system has two work modes – economy and power – that are selectable by choosing single or twin pumps respectively.
The backhoe has a fully ROPS/FOPS operators’ cab with air-conditioning and suspension seat. Hydraulically assisted steering helps the BL818S achieve a turning circle of 11.1 metres, making it suitable for mid-sized work sites.
The 2235mm-wide loader and backhoe buckets have a heaped capacity of around one cubic metre each.
