Hyundai Construction Equipment Australia (HCEA) has announced the introduction of the R17Z-9A mini excavator, targeted at contractors and tradesmen working in confined spaces.
Weighing in at 1.7 tonnes, the R17Z-9A comes equipped with an 11.7kW (15.7hp) Kubota D902 engine which is Tier 4 compliant, meaning reduced emissions and a lower environmental impact.
The compact model’s zero tail swing design allows it to be operated on jobs where space is at a premium, such as urban plumbing or electrical excavation work. When fitted with a 960mm long dipper arm, the R17Z-9A reaches a maximum digging depth of 2190mm.
The mini-excavator features two-speed travel, moving at 2.2km/h at the lower end and 4.1km/h at the higher end of the range. A two-post canopy has been fitted to allow for greater operator visibility. Operator comfort is further enhanced by an adjustable suspension seat, wrist rests and ergonomically designed joysticks. Maintenance is streamlined by centralised grease fittings that allow for easy access.
Hyundai says the unit fits into its existing mini-excavator line-up between the R16-9 and the R27-Z9, and is available as part of a number of combo packages, specifically geared towards meeting safety requirements by adding semi or fully automatic quick hitch systems to the excavator. All units come with Hyundai’s three-year/3000 hour full factory warranty.
Customers will have the opportunity to see the R17Z-9A in action as part of Hyundai’s Dig Day Out events being held across Australia throughout 2015. The events will showcase Hyundai’s range of mini-excavators, loaders, rollers and skid steers with live demonstrations and the chance for customers to try out the machines for themselves.
