Twin-boom telescopic tool carrier hits ANZ market

A range of amazingly versatile Italian material handlers has been introduced into the Australian and New Zealand markets by Perth distributor Ranger CE. The Palazzani Paload PL model is a Z-bar configuration fitted with optional quick-hitch, while the PT model combines the best of wheel loaders and telescopic handlers.

The PT features twin telescopic booms that can extend to a height of almost 5m at the pin. This gives them the ability to perform in a wide range of applications, from agriculture to earthmoving and mining — aided by a vast range of attachments, including an industry-first, loader-mounted aerial platform.

“This is the only one on the market that’s designed as a wheel-loader with a twin telescopic boom, which reduces the twist and torque that you get with single booms in heavy applications,” RCE General Manager Bernard Shapland says.

He says the load is shared over the two booms, for which Palazzani holds the worldwide patent. This ultimately means less wear and lower maintenance time and costs over the service life.

Palazzani has been operating since 1935 and really only specialises in two product lines, Shapland says. “One is the payload, which is the loaders and backloaders, and the other is the paylift, which is specialised lifting equipment. All only use the highest-end componentry.”

Value for money is second to none, he says, adding: “We have some of the most sophisticated features and the best componentry.”

Shapland urges customers looking at the mainstream tool carriers on the market to also consider the PT series, which add a telescopic boom at the same price point.

Many people end up buying an older second-hand machine that is larger than they need simply to gain the lift height they need in a loader, he says, whereas these allow you to have the lift height of a much larger machine in a compact unit.

Palazzani Paload models and features

There are four models in the PT series: the 8-tonne PT 72, which has a 1.05 m3 bucket capacity and 73.5 kW net power; the 8.7-tonne PT 82 (1.25 m3/91 kW); the 9-tonne PT 182 (1.40 m3/95.9 kW); and the 9.6-tonne PT 192 (1.6 m3/95.9 kW).

Features include Perkins engines, hydrostatic transmissions, load-sensing servo-steering, multiple disk brakes positioned in the centre of the axels, multi-speed hydraulic radiator fans with auto reverse function  for self-cleaning, and much more.

There are six models in the PL range: The 5-tonne PL145 (0.9 m3/51.1 kW); the 6.3-tonne PL155 (1 m3/62.5 kW); the 7-tonne PL165 (1.15 m3/62.5 kW); the 8.5-tonne PL185 (1.2 m3/76.7 kW); the 9-tonne PL195 (1.5 m3/95.9kW); and the 12.2-tonne PL1105 (2.1 m3/109 kW).

Tool-carrier attachments

“We offer a very large range of attachments,” Shapland says.” Pallet forks, hay forks, log grabs, four-in-one buckets, heavy/light material buckets, and so on.

“The Palazzani range is a great new addition to the Australia-New Zealand market with a huge range of applications. They’re amazingly versatile, and what the market’s been looking for for a very long time.”

Ranger CE also distributes XCMG wheel loaders, graders, compactors and excavators, plus the Qtrak range of four-wheel-steer multifunctional loaders. The latter is available in two series (1200 and 1500) and four models, all with different dimensions, engines and performance.
