Manitou launches new underground telescopic handlers
Materials handling specialist Manitou is bringing its newest underground mining telescopic handler range to Australia, starting with the MT-X 1030 S Mining.
According to Manitou, the MT-X 1030 S Mining is built based on the design of its MT-X 1030 S telehandler model with several adaptations for underground applications.
"Manitou, as a leader sets the vision of what should be the Mining Telescopic Handler Utility Vehicle," says Manitou Mining Activities Manager Emmanuel Amandjules.
"Our new range of Mining Telescopic Handlers incorporates factory quality built in mining specifications. These make fundamental differences compared to a 'standard' or any other manufactures."
The range will include several different models with lift capacities that ranges from 3,000kg to 22,500kg and lift height of 7m to 18m.
Manitou says the range has been designed with safety and productivity at top of mind.
The range has a factory built and certified fail safe braking and emergency steering system with redundant braking axles, dual service brake lines, and operator Daily Safety Check procedure.
A Mining Guardian Angel Safety System designed by Manitou monitors the machine’s parameters, engine, hydraulics, speed and inclination at all times. When the machine reaches a speed limit the system sends the operator a warning and is able to switch the engine off if necessary to prevent engine damage or fire.
The Manitou MT-X 1030 S Mining is also fully equipped with cameras and LED lightings for full visibility. A factory designed Safe Exhaust System purifies and dilutes diesel fumes emitted by the machine to minimise harm caused by the toxic material.
For further safety, Manitou has installed an electrical protection system that dramatically reduces the chances of electrical faults occurring in harsh, corrosive underground environments.
Other features of the new underground telehandler include an access platform option that is safety standard complaint and fitted with automatic basket recognition and multiple other underground options.
"All these factory built-in features have been engineered and designed to bring a true added value in terms of safety, productivity and up time," Amandjules says.
Manitou’s new telehandler range is fully supported by its network of dealers in the country.
