At the recent Dowerin Field Days north-east of Perth we saw the Mecalac MCR multi-purpose earthmoving machine in action, and just had to ask Digrite Chief Operating Officer Phil Shepley to tell us about it.
In the video above, he explains that it’s a tracked skid-steer, excavator and telehandler all built into the one machine.
Available in the 6, 8 and 10-tonne classes, the MCR (the French abbreviation for Mecalac Fast Track) models are tracked machines that can travel at speeds of up to 10 km/h and switch from excavator mode to skid loader mode in seconds.
“The guys with one-man bands can’t go past this setup,” Shepley says. “By the time you get your six-tonne excavator and your skid-steer and your truck and trailer to cart them both around, you’re going to be 20 or 30 grand ahead by purchasing a Mecalac.
“Owner-operators are a huge focus for us … it’s going to be the future for them, for sure.”
Intrigued? We were … so check out the video to see this pretty amazing machine in action.
