Gehl adds three models to R Series skid-steer loader range

Gehl has added three new models to its R Series of radial-lift skid-steer loaders, introducing a new cab with an integrated digital display, new load arm design with increased visibility, Yanmar engines and several serviceability enhancements.

The three mid-frame models are the all-new 680kg capacity R150, the 612kg R135 (replacing the 4240E) and the 748kg R165 (replacing the 4640E Power2).

When equipped with optional counterweights, the rated operating capacities go up to 680kg on the R135, 748kg on the R150 and 817kg on the R165. Fully raised lift heights to the hinge pin are 2.8m on the R135 and 3m on the R150 and R165.

All three models feature Tier 4 emissions compliant Yanmar engines with DPF (diesel particulate filter) technology, and do not require fuel after-treatments. Maximum torque ratings range from 146Nm on the R135 and R150 to 241Nm on the R165.

Gehl says the new skid loaders “feature standard proportional auxiliary hydraulics for maximum precision and infinitely adjustable flow control. Impressive breakout forces deliver optimal digging and lifting performance. Faster cycle times further enhance productivity on the jobsite. Pressure-relieving hydraulic couplers make attachment changes simple and safe.”

The cabs have been designed to a high level of comfort and safety, the company says. Features include a front-lifting restraint bar, multiple-position armrests, the option of mechanical or air-ride suspension on the seat, automatic dome light, cup holder, 12-volt outlet, storage tray and multiple air vents.

Visibility is enhanced by a cab-forward design and lowered rear towers. A pressurised cab enclosure, with sound reduction material and a rear-mounted air filter, is optional.

Control is customisable with three options — T-bar, hand/foot or joystick (R165 only) — and a customisable digital colour display provides information on coolant, fuel, battery, environment and engine regeneration, among others.

A wide, swing-out rear door and new swing out cooler provide easy access to the filter, fluid reservoirs and the engine bay. The level II FOPS structure tilts back with the aid of gas springs, providing easy internal access to the pumps, hydraulic valve bank and drive motors.

The Gehl R Series skid loaders are currently available in Canada and North America. Gehl’s parent company, Manitou Group, says the R-Series machines will be available in Australia in 2015, though no launch date has yet been set.
