JCB 1CXT adds tracks to mini backhoe loader

JCB Construction Equipment has added tracks to its smallest skid-steer backhoe loader to create the 1CXT, an earthmover that has the manoeuvrability of a skid-steer, the productivity of a mini-excavator and the versatility of a backhoe loader, plus the stability and pushing power of tracks.

The 1CXT can be operated and driven while facing the loader or the backhoe, a feature that aims to save time and increase productivity on the job.

“Because the 1CXT can be driven while the operator is facing either direction, there’s no need to spin the seat back around before the machine can be repositioned,” JCB CEA national product manager Glenn McLeod says. “This extra convenience can add up to a lot of time on the jobsite.”

The 1CXT sits on 325mm rubber tracks which give the machine maximum traction while retaining a narrow total machine width of 1.8m, making it suitable for use in cramped, urban jobsites where space is minimal.. JCB says the track design also helps the machine achieve greater stability when on wet or soft ground, as well as when operating the machine on an incline.

A 49hp (36.3kW) Perkins Tier 3, four-cylinder diesel engine powers the machine, giving the skid-steer a top speed of 7.5km/h in both forward and reverse. The 1CXT has a total lift capability of 665kg, with a 2.65m load over height. The standard hydraulics flow at 45 l/m, but an optional 100 l/m HighFlow system is also available.

The backhoe is a fully integrated sideshift model, allowing the machine to dig close to walls. A dig depth of up to 3.05m can be achieved by adding an extending dipper option. JCB says the little skid steer has digging power equivalent to that of a 2.5-tonne mini excavator.

The cab in the 1CXT can be accessed from the sides if needed, allowing the operator to enter and exit the vehicle without having to climb over any attachments, increasing operator safety. In the cab, the 1CXT features JCB’s in-seat EasyControl servo controls, with both the loader and backhoe controls located on seat-mounted joysticks.

Servicing the machine has been streamlined with all daily and routine service items located at ground level under a one-piece bonnet. There are a number of optional extras available including a 6-in-1 shovel, an excavator quick-hitch for easy attachment changes and in-cab air conditioning for operator comfort.
