New mid-range Sandvik cone crushers
Mining equipment giant Sandvik has expanded its mid-range cone crusher offerings with the release of the CH860 and CH865 models, which it says have been designed to improve productivity and profitability.
The 40 tonne CH860 is designed for high-capacity secondary crushing and has a nominal load capacity of up to 1024 mtph. The CH865 has increased crushing force over the CH860, resulting in a finer end product. The CH865 is better suited to tertiary or pebble crushing applications. Sandvik claims the two crushers can outperform competing crushers of the same class by up to 30%
The CH860 and CH865 are scaled-down versions of Sandvik’s high-range CH890 and CH895 models respectively. Both are driven by a 500kW motor and feature a number of automated systems aimed at streamlining the crushing process. Sandvik’s Automatic Setting Regulation (ASRi) controls the load allowed in to the crusher automatically, protecting the machine against overloads and also maximises efficiency by automatically maintaining optimum levels within the crusher in real time. The system also monitors pressure and power draw constantly, making automatic adjustments accordingly.
The ASRi system works in tandem with Sandvik’s Hydroset shaft protection system, continuously monitoring the load inside the crusher chamber to ensure optimum levels are maintained. The Hydroset system incorporates a heavy-duty hydraulic cylinder that supports the mainshaft and can adjust its position automatically. The system allows uncrushable materials such as tramp iron to pass through the crusher, preventing machine overload. Hydroset can also compensate for crushing chamber wear to provide a consistent product size.
The units have been designed to increase crushing power without increasing the size of the machine, making the crushers attractive to mine operators who want increased productivity without actually increasing the size of their plant.
"At our test site we replaced a similar sized crusher, on exactly the same foundation, greatly increasing final product output and significantly extending crushing chamber liner life… Both the CH860 and CH865 have been designed as easily installed replacement crushers that increase productivity" said Kevin Hole, Sandvik business line manager for crushing and screening.
