Honda amps up deal on EU20i generator
Honda is offering a $150 cashback deal on its EU20i four-stroke petrol generator — a low-noise model it describes as the world’s best-selling camping generator.
There are plenty of reasons you’d want to use a generator in the bush — prospecting, remote contracting, surveying, mustering or just getting away for a break — and Honda says this model’s microchip-controlled sinewave inverter guarantees commercial-quality electricity so it’s ideal for use with frequency-sensitive electrical equipment such as laptops.
The Honda EU20i generator is powered by a 98cc GX100T engine and includes an ‘eco-throttle’, which adjusts the engine speed to meet the load demand, improving fuel economy and reducing noise. With the eco-throttle switched on at 1/4 output, noise levels drop from an already-respectable 59 decibels to 53dB at 7 metres.
Ratings of 8 Amp/12 Volt DC and a maximum of 2,000W/240 Volt AC mean the unit can run appliances and charge batteries simultaneously.
Other features include a 3.4-hour running time on a full fuel tank (which goes up to 10 hours on 1/4 throttle) and the ability for two EU20is to be quickly and easily linked using a special parallel connection, doubling the power output to 4Kva.
It is backed by a four-year domestic warranty and 12-month commercial warranty.
The Honda EU20i generator has a recommended retail price of $1,999 before cashback, though we’ve seen it advertised for as low as $1,649. The cashback offer is valid until 30 November 2015.
