Answering customer requests for a smaller compact track loader, Cougar has released the 1,560mm-wide, 3.4-tonne STL885.
The multi-terrain loader is powered by a turbo-charged Hyundai diesel engine delivering 65 horsepower (48,5kW). The transmission is by Sauer Danfoss, and it has Rexroth wheel drive motors.
Features of the Cougar STL885 include a ROPS canopy or air-conditioned ROPS cabin, a 4-in-1 bucket as standard, and a multi-fit universal quick hitch that fits 99.9 percent of all other makers’ attachments.
“There are no computers or electrics with all cougars,” says Bruce Ford, the sales manager of Cougar sole distributor Skid Steers Australia. “This means there are no worries about water getting into computers or electrics getting contaminated by water, dirt or dust.”
There are three operating control options for the STL885 loader: foot control, hand control or servo control.
The machine has an operating capacity of 882kg, a heaped bucket capacity of 0.45 cubic metres and a tipping load of 2,160kg.
It has a height of 2,100mm, with an overall operating height of 4,119mm to the top of the bucket. The dump height is 2,515mm.
Skid Steers Australia has been selling Cougar skid steer loaders and multi-terrain loaders to a variety of industries — including construction, agriculture, civil works, landscaping, waste management and general hire — since the brand’s establishment in 1990.
“Through the years Cougar skid steer loaders have gained recognition as solid, reliable and user-friendly machines,” Bruce says. “The Cougar skid steer loader already has proven to be efficient and safe in a variety of work sites around the world.”
