Uniden MHS155UV is a combo VHF and UHF 2-way radio

Uniden has launched the MHS155UV, which combines a VHF marine radio and UHF CB 2-way handheld radio and allows the one unit to be used both at sea and on land.

The dual band MHS155UV is built rugged to withstand the harsh Australian elements and sports a fully submersible waterproof body based on IPX7 waterproof standards — which means the radio can be submerged in 1 metre of water for 30 minutes without damage.

However, you don’t have to worry about it being fully submerged for long as it’s designed to float and can be easily retrieved if dropped overboard.

Uniden says that the MHS155UV’s white/grey exterior is designed to make it easy to locate if misplaced in the bushland or in the water.

VHF dual and triple watch operation means you can monitor up to one distress/hailing channel, a weather channel and a regular marine channel at the same time. The radio has dual watch operation in UHF mode.

Range extender (duplex) capability allows the MHS155UV to operate using a local repeater station to retransmit signals over a wider area, while an interference eliminator (38 CTCSS codes) and digital coded squelch block out unwanted conversations.

Other features include a large LCD backlit display for clear viewing in both dim and brightly lit conditions, an operating time of up to 12 hours, a weather channel key and ‘Battery Save’, which automatically switches off RX power regularly to conserve battery power.

The Uniden MHS155UV radio includes a rechargeable lithium-ion battery with desktop charger cradle and AC adaptor, belt clip, cigarette lead cable, battery tray and mounting hardware. It comes with a three year warranty and has a recommended retail price of $249.95.
