LiuGong 856H wheel loader arrives in Aus

The new LiuGong 856H wheel loader has been released in Australia through a new partnership with local distributor AWD Group. Boasting improvements in every area, AWD and LiuGong say the new model will bring in a new era of productivity and serviceability.

With over 15 years of local experience, AWD Group has set its sights on becoming one of Australia’s leading providers of capital equipment. The new partnership with LiuGong will expand that footprint.

“We are very excited about this opportunity to bring world class products to Australia,” AWD Group chairman Paul Jenkins says. “We see this as an opportunity for the existing LiuGong customer base in Australia to receive increased parts and service support in the eastern states.”

Powered by a 220-horsepower (162kW) 9.3-litre Cummins engine configured to meet Tier 2/Stage II emissions requirements, the 17-tonne 856H offers improved torque and efficiency over previous models, according to LiuGong.

The driveline has been engineered by German parts maker ZF, with the axle housing and main transmission system reinforced to improve strength and increase the carrying capacity by 40 percent.

An automatic shift transmission with kick down function and electric proportional FNR (Forward-Neutral-Reverse) lever have been included in order to make operating easier and reduce operator fatigue.

LiuGong says the driveline improvements and reinforcement increases the average lifecycle of the machine by 250 percent over the previous model.

At the front end, the 856H has a 3-cubic-metre-capacity bucket with a breakout force of 160kN. The tipping arms can handle a load of 12.5 tonnes when straight, or 10.5 tonnes when turned.

The loader can achieve a maximum dump angle of 45 degrees and full clearance of the bucket is just over 3 metres. An improved hydraulic system with closed circuit pumps gives the wheel loader a full-load raise time of 6 seconds and a dump time of just 1.5 seconds, keeping the job flowing and productivity high.

Perhaps the area with the most obvious improvements over previous models is the cab.

Based on extensive feedback from customers, the eight-sided ROPS/FOPS cab now features near-seamless transitions between glass panels, giving the operator a virtually uninterrupted view from the seat.

The console has been placed in a lower position to improve the sight-line to the front of the machine, while all frequently used controls have been placed within easy reach of the operator.

Noise levels inside the cab have been reduced through the use of curved glass window panels and a quieter automatic air-conditioning unit with parallel coolers.

The loader’s electrical system has been completely overhauled as well, with all fuse relays located inside the cab and are accessible without the need for tools.

LiuGong says it adopted a ground maintenance approach for the 856H, meaning operators can complete routine checks of various filters and fuels without the need to climb on to the machine.
