Topcon launches Elite Survey Suite

Local Topcon Positioning supplier Position Partners has announced the Topcon Elite Survey Suite, combining four of Topcon’s flagship geo-positioning products in one system.

The Elite Survey Suite is made up of Topcon’s new GT series of robotic measurement stations, a HiPer HR hybrid GNSS receiver and the FC-5000 handheld field computer all tied together with the MAGNET 4.0 software system.

“The individual products of the Elite Survey Suite were designed from the ground up to work together seamlessly through one software solution,” Position Partners national product manager Cameron Waters says.

“The suite derives its power from the fastest robotic motor total station technology in the market, the smallest and lightest GNSS rover in the industry, the latest advances in field computing and the pinnacle of software capabilities.”

Position Partners says the GT series robotic total station is one of the fastest robotic instruments available and uses Topcon’s UltraTrac technology engine for advanced prism tracking. The station is powered by UltraSonic direct drive motors that Topcon says has a turning speed of 180 degrees per second.

The HiPer GNSS GPS receiver helps the operator get accurate positioning measurements on site and is augment by Topcon’s TILT system (Topcon Integrated Levelling Technology). This automated system can make advanced corrections for mis-levelled measurements using GPS data and two internal digital compasses.

“This advanced technology allows users to quickly and confidently take field measurements even in scenarios where getting the receiver into an exact vertical setup is difficult or even impossible,” Waters says.

The FC-5000 field computer is a ruggedised tablet running the Windows 10 operating system. It has a sunlight-readable seven inch display with an 8MP rear camera and 2MP front camera. The tablet is rated to US military standard MIL-STD-810G, meaning it will work in the harshest temperatures.

Tying the three pieces of hardware together is Topcon’s MAGNET software. Position Partners says the web-based software helps keep track of assets on site and can communicate quickly with all involved on the project. The suite also features powerful CAD software for high-level 3D modelling.
