Eight new Caterpillar machines will make their public debut at the CONEXPO-CON/AGG exhibition in Las Vegas in March.
The new machines on display will be the M317F wheeled excavator, the 986K and 950GC wheel loaders, the new D6T dozer, the 745 articulated truck, the TH514D telehandler and the PM825 and PM312 profilers.
Caterpillar says it will have 40 machines in total on display at the event, including the eight brand new models and six recently-released machines that have not been shown at exhibitions before. The machines will be showcased across Cat’s two exhibition areas, spanning more than 5.5 square kilometres.
In the larger ‘North Hall’ exhibit, Cat says it is focusing on larger machines such as excavators, graders, pavers and aggregate mining products. The smaller ‘Gold Lot’ exhibit will focus on smaller machines used in building construction such as telehandlers and mini-excavators.
The M317F is a compact-radius wheeled excavator designed for use in cramped urban environments. Cat says the M317F delivers the same capabilities as larger radius machines. Cat will also be showing updated versions of its 390F and 336F XE crawler excavators.
The new Cat 986K wheel loader replaces the H series model, and Cat says the new loader can deliver a lower cost per tonne in earthmoving or aggregates applications. Also on display will be the new 950 GC loader alongside the fully featured 950M loader.
The new D6T dozer will also make an appearance at CONEXPO, and features a new transmission and ‘autoshift’ system that uses 20 percent less fuel over the previous version. The new D6T is also equipped with Cat’s GRADE with Slope Assist as standard.
The Cat 745 articulated truck features an improved operator cab and automated safety and productivity features such as stability assist and a fuel economy mode.
Caterpillar will also be launching two new profilers (known as cold planers in the US), the PM825 and PM312. The new models will be on display alongside the recently released PM622 profiler. The PM800 and PM600 series are designed for larger projects, while the PM300 series is better suited to road repair or small road milling.
Last but not least, the TH514D telehandler will be on display at Cat’s ‘Gold Lot’ exhibit. The TH514D has a three-section boom with a reach of over 14 metres and a lift capacity of just under five tonnes.
