The new Xcentric crusher buckets are made from high-strength Hardox steel and features patented isolating jaw movement, which allows the material to be crushed without an associated compacting effect.

Boss says the new style of jaw movement can boost production levels by as much as 35 percent. The attachment has cross-top jaws which can create a circular motion, which allows the curshing of wet material.

The jaws of the crusher are fully adjustable, giving an output product of between -20mm and 170mm. The jaws are adjusted by moving just two pins, which brings the time needed to adjust product size down to around two minutes.

The crusher’s double-effect hydraulic system allows operators to reverse the crushing movement in the event of product jam and it can process hard materials like granite or porphyry  at 100 percent of the jaw opening.

The Xcentric’s design uses around 80 percent less consumable parts than conventional crusher buckets and uses no toggles, springs, spacing plates or threaded bars. The bucket’s high-inertia powertrain also requires 40 percent less oil to operate, lowering fuel consumption.

Boss says the extreme compactness and low centre of gravity of the attachment greatly improves balance and reduces vibrations and strain on the excavator arm.

Boss Attachments says the introduction of the Xcentric crusher bucket also means the phasing out of the company’s MB crusher line. Boss says this will have no impact on existing MB owners as the company will continue to supply backup, service and warranty support for all its existing products.
