Launched at the SaMoTer construction expo in Verona, Italy last month; the R30Z-9AK is powered by a Tier 4/Stage IV 18.1kW Kubota D1305 diesel engine that Hyundai says is low noise and fuel efficient.

The machine as a whole has been designed to reduce operating costs by extending the life of components, with bushings designed for extended lube intervals (250 hours) and wear-resistant polymer shims. The R30Z-9AK’s hydraulics have been updated as well with long-life filters (1,000 hours) and hydraulic oil (5,000 hours).

The little digger has an operating weight of 2.8 tonnes in canopy configuration and 3 tonnes with a full cabin. Both the canopy and cabin styles meet international ROPS/FOPS/TOPS standards, ensuring operator safety. The machine can be offset to the left or right, depending on site requirements.

The structure of the cabin is made from low-stress, high-strength steel tubing that Hyundai says is slimmer and stronger than previous models, improving safety and visibility.

Inside the canopy/cabin operators can adjust the positioning of the seat and controls to match their preferred ergonomic working position. There’s also a key-lockable storage box for operators to store their valuables. The cabin option also features a sliding fold-in window that can be fully opened during operation to improve ventilation.

The mini-excavator also has a safety lock system that prevents an operator exiting the cabin while the hydraulic controls are still live. The controls need to be pushed into an upright position for hydraulic functions to disengage.

An automated monitoring system connected to a display in the cabin provides the operator with critical machine information including engine oil pressure, battery charge, coolant temperature and fuel levels.

Daily maintenance has been streamlined as well with the battery located below the radiator, making regular servicing and maintenance easy.
