JCB intros small but beefy skid steers in US

JCB has introduced two new skid steer loaders, the 210 radial lift and the 215 vertical lift, at the recent CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2017 show in Las Vegas.

The 210 radial lift model has a rated operating capacity (ROC) of 950kg and the 215 an ROC of 975kg. The operating capacity of both models can be increase by 90kg with the addition of an optional ‘suitcase’ counterweight kit.

JCB says the new models have a high-flow auxiliary hydraulic circuit that can deliver up to 136 litres per minute, usually seen on larger skid steers. This gives the operator the ability to use high-flow attachments they wouldn’t normally be able to use such as pavers, augers and trenchers.

“The 210 and 215 deliver the high-horsepower benefits of larger skid steers to operators of light-frame skid steer platforms,” JCB chief innovation and growth officer Tim Burnhope says.

“High-flow hydraulics allow our operators to perform more tasks more efficiently, use a greater range of attachments, and complete tasks faster.

“The combination of more horsepower and a high-flow hydraulics system really reinforces the versatility of these incredible new skid steer machines, and expands the range of projects to which light-framed JCB skid steers can be applied,” Burnhope adds.

“The added benefit of all that additional power is that these machines will not be required to run at full capacity all the time, which means less stress on the systems and drivetrain, resulting in more uptime.”

The new models are also the first in the JCB small-frame skid steer lineup to be powered by a 55kW Tier 4 Final ‘JCB by Kohler’ diesel. JCB says this engine can produce a 20 percent increase in previous models.

The cab on 210 and 215 has side door entry for increased operator safety, and JCB says the design gives 60 percent greater visibility and a 46 percent increase in cab size of comparably sized skid steers.
