Weiler vice president Bill Hood flew to Brisbane from Iowa to mark the occasion, and to join Hasting Deering in launching the new Weiler E2850 remixing transfer vehicles.

"This is a very exciting time for the construction industry," Hood says. "We have been working on this arrangement for five years in response to calls from the industry for our machinery.

"Contractors know about Weiler performance and have wanted our products for a long time. Our paving/ road construction product range offers customers unmatched improvements in productivity, efficiency and industry compliance.

"Together with Caterpillar, Hastings Deering can now offer full end-to-end paving/road construction solutions: from asphalt pavers, road profilers to road wideners and the all-new E2850 remix transfer vehicle," Hood adds.

The E2850 is a 224kW asphalt paver that has 22.7 tonnes of onboard storage, meaning it doesn’t need to be emptied into haul trucks anywhere near as often. This frees up trucks for other tasks, improving productivity.

The large onboard storage also means the E2850 can complete work in areas that trucks can’t reach, and then be moved into a more accessible area for unloading.

Hastings Deering says the agreement is important as a raft of major road construction projects are currently underway or set to begin across the country.

"Having these machines in our stable means we are able to increase our penetration into major asphalt contractors," Hastings Deering sales manager Ryan Van Den Broek says.

"The Weiler E2850 RTV is directed towards the major road projects, which are normally serviced by the major asphalt contractors.

"We are reacting to a demand, by these contractors, for another RTV manufacturer in Australia that offer efficiencies that increase life of wear items," Van Den Broek adds.
