Cat pumps up performance on D8T dozer

Cat has introduced new enhanced productivity options for its D8T dozer that it says are aimed at saving operators time and money.

The range of optional extras now includes a larger SU bulldozer blade, performance cutting edges, reinforced ‘extended life’ undercarriage, powered bottom guards and remote control operation through the Cat Command system.

The new dozer blade, a 10.3-square-metre semi-U (SU) blade, has 19 percent more capacity than the standard D8T blade.

The blade also features Cat’s patented performance cutting edges, designed to dig deeper into material and improve blade control. Cat says this delivers a cutting action that increases blade load mass by up to 25 percent.

A new, fully suspended ‘heavy duty extended life’ undercarriage is available, aimed at reducing repair costs for those working in high abrasion conditions. The undercarriage has heavier bushings that can provide up to 30 percent more wear life than standard.

Cat says the new powered bottom guards greatly reduce maintenance times and improve safety on the underside of the D8T.

After removing the bolts, the doors on the underside open hydraulically via a remote switch. They can be opened in the centre for fast, easy debris clean-out or from just one side for maintenance access.

Finally, the D8T dozer can now be ordered ready for remote control operation through the Cat Command remote control system.

Customers have the option of an ‘over-the-shoulder’ remote operator console for line-of-sight operation (from up to 400m away) or a full remote operator station that offers both line-of-sight and non-line-of-sight operation.

Cat says remote control operation significantly increases operator safety when working on steep slopes or unstable ground.
