The HL965 has an operating weight of just over 20 tonnes and is powered by a 200kW electronically controlled Cummins QSL9 diesel engine configured to US Tier 4 Final/EU Stage IV emissions standards.

Hyundai says the new loader has been manufactured from high-grade steel and has undergone rigid cycle, heat, vibration and shock load testing to ensure optimum durability.

The HL965 has a maximum load capacity on the axles of 44 tonnes at the front and 35 tonnes at the rear.

Hyundai has redesigned the bucket, giving it a wider opening and curved side plates that bring its total capacity up to 3.6 cubic metres. The bucket has also been given an advanced spill guard to minimise material loss when travelling.

All loaders in the HL900 series include Hyundai’s on-board weighing systems as standard to improve productivity. Accurate to a one percent margin of error, the weighing system has automatic and manual settings for monitoring individual and cumulative bucket load weights.

The weight measurements are then displayed in-cab on the HL965’s seven-inch touchscreen. The touchscreen also displays critical machine information as well as an integrated Bluetooth hands-free phone system.

Hyundai says the new cab itself is ten percent larger than that of the previous series. Fully ROPS/FOPS compliant, the cab has been sound-proofed and is air-conditioned.

The new loader has joystick controls for the boom, bucket and third hydraulic line as standard, and joystick steering is also available as an option.

Maintenance has also been streamlined on the HL965 with the addition of a fully retractable engine hood, which is a first for Hyundai wheel loaders. The hood is operated by a single switch and gives operators safer and easier access to service points.

It’s not known at this stage whether the HL965 will be available in Australia.
