  • Range of automated drilling options
  • Massive 750kW Cat C32 Acert engine
  • Max drill depth of 17.5 metres

Suited to 12- and 15-metre bench heights, the new Cat MD6310 blasthole drill has been designed for single-pass drilling down to 13.7 metres or 17.5 metres depending on mast configuration.

The MD6310 can work with holes up to 30 degrees from vertical and comes with drill depth indicator, auto level/retract and auto mast as standard.

The big drill is available with a 760kW US Tier 4 Final/EU Stage IV Cat C32 Acert engine or with a Tier 2 engine producing 770kW.

The MD6310 sits atop a Cat 349E excavator-type undercarriage with either 600mm triple grousers for drilling hard rock or 750mm triple grousers for working soft rock. In addition, three-point oscillating suspension reduces the transfer of excessive torsional forces to the main frame.

Caterpillar says one of the main drawcards of the MD6310 is its suite of automated control options including drill assist, semi-autonomous and remote control drilling. Operators can select the precise level of automation matching the job.

The drill assist function in particular can execute all major functions in a single pass and automatically adjusts drill power to match the ground conditions, improving bit life.

Inside the FOPS operators cab are joystick controls for all drilling functions and dual 254mm colour touchscreens. The cab has 2.8 square metres of floor space and rubber shock-mounts to absorb mechanical drilling vibration.

Multiple drill cameras display a full view of the pipe rack carousel/top drive operation as well as 360 degrees of visibility from the operators’ seat to improve safety.
