The TB2150R is aimed at plant hire businesses, demolition contractors, drainage and landscaping contractors or construction companies undertaking basement excavations.

Reduced tail-swing excavators are becoming much more common on today’s construction sites due to their ability to get the operator closer to the work area.

Although traditionally seen on mini excavators Takeuchi says applying the reduced tail-swing configuration to larger machines like the TB2150R gives them improved manoeuvrability without sacrificing power.

The 17-tonne TB2150R incorporates all the features seen on the conventional swing TB2150 with swing boom, but with reduced tail-swing, fixed boom and extended track length.

The excavator is powered by an 85kW US Tier 4 Final/EU Stage IV Deutz TCD 3.6 L4 engine. The digger can achieve a maximum dig depth of 5.5m and has a max forward reach of 8.3m.

Two sets of auxiliary service piping feature modulated proportional control, with the main line programmable for both flow and relief pressure to suit different tools and attachments. In situations where the operator needs both attachments simultaneously, they are able to select separate pre-set pressure levels for the different attachments.

The large operator’s cab has been given an automotive-style interior designed to be user-friendly. The cab also features a heated air-suspension seat and multi-function display with rear-view camera.

Takeuchi says it has improved serviceability and uptime by simplifying access to key maintenance areas. Most daily service points are available at ground level but there is also a safety handrail if operators need to access the machine’s upper deck.

“The new TB2150R represents Takeuchi’s commitment to continuous product improvement so we can provide the latest in technology and performance to our customers,” Semco’s Graham Murphy says. “The TB215R0 is more capable, comfortable and spacious than its predecessor.”
