The Liebherr LR626 crawler loader was unveiled at the company’s plant in Telfs, Austria. The LR626 is the latest addition to Liebherr’s Generation 6 crawler loader range, and is the successor to the LR624.

The LR626 loader is powered by a four-cylinder 105kW Tier 4 Final diesel engine and has an operating weight of between 16,130kg and 18,600kg.

Liebherr says it achieved Tier 4 Final certification by designing its selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system to use an injection of AdBlue and a diesel oxidation catalyst. This eliminates the need for a particulate filter and in turn the engine runs at a much lower temperature.

The big loader has a range of automated features designed to lower fuel use. A selectable ECO function lowers engine speed while maintaining high power levels, which results in lower fuel use in light to moderate operations.

Liebherr says the air-conditioned operators’ cab has been given generous dimensions and plenty of storage space including a fridge. Like all its Gen 6 siblings, the LR626 has a touchscreen display giving access to machine information and construction parameters.

The LR626 has a number of machine control features that can be accessed from a single joystick control like automatic bucket return, auto float heights and stroke limits.

Maintenance work on the Liebherr LR626 has been streamlined, with centralised service points located under the hydraulically tilted cab and easy-access gull-wing doors. The LR626’s standard folding fan allows for clear access to the radiator for cleaning.

The LR626 has a 1.8 cubic metre bucket as standard but a range of optional attachments such as 4-in-1 buckets and waste grilles for the front of the machine and a three-tooth ripper or winch for the back.

It is not known at this stage when, or if, the Liebherr LR626 crawler loader will be available in Australia.
