The new Ranger has a drilling coverage area of 55 square meters and is equipped with a powerful new rock-drill, intelligent operation and high fuel efficiency, making it the most powerful and efficient top hammer drill rig in its class, according to Sandvik.

“It represents a totally new revolutionary generation of the Ranger product family,” the Swedish company says.

The designers made the Ranger DXi with higher productivity in mind, giving it features such as a 290-degree revolving upper structure which allows the operator more drilling time without moving the rig from hole to hole, a 21-27kW rock-drill and the iTorque control system.

In addition, the use of Sandvik GT 60 tools enable higher productivity with straighter 92-127mm holes.

Sandvik says its developers are also particularly proud of the newly designed and comfortable cabin.

“Operator ergonomics and low cabin noise have been the focus areas in developing this new iCab cabin,” it says. “A new user interface has been developed based on the experience of several customer trials.

“Positive feedback has been received regarding the good ergonomics and easy-to-use joysticks and control panels.”

There is also now room for a trainer behind the operator seat in the new cabin.

“Thanks to long and successful co-operation with VTT, Finnish Technical Research Center, we have been able to lower the noise emissions to levels never seen before in this type of drill rigs,” Sandvik adds.
