Topcon intros GM 100 total station

Geospatial group Topcon has launched the GM-100 total station designed to provide a powerful electronic distance measurement (EDM) system with integrated communications technology.

Topcon -GM100

Topcon says the GM-100 has been designed from the ground up to be an all-in-one surveying solution inside a compact, ruggedized case.

“It delivers the latest technological advantages in a small, sleek design,” Topcon director of global surveying products Ray Kerwin says.

“Whether operators are performing tasks such as site layout or as-built survey, the instrument delivers high-end performance with a best-in-class accuracy of up to 6000 m and 1.5 mm + 2 ppm with a prism and up to 1000 m and 2 mm + 2 ppm in reflectorless mode.”

The GM-100 features dual-axis compensation designed to ensure stable measurements even on rough terrain by automatically correcting both horizontal and vertical angles. The GM-100 also has an enlarged beam width of 13mm (which translates to over 30 metres of coverage) to capture measurements faster.

The instrument offers integrated Bluetooth technology with no external antenna necessary for connectivity with the controller.

Additional features include 50,000 points of internal memory and up to 32GB USB storage, as well as up to 28 hours of battery life and IP66 certification.

The GM-100 is also equipped with Topcon’s ‘TSshield’ security system. Each instrument within the GM-100 system is equipped with a telematics-based multi-function communications module. If the users’ GM-100 (or any part of it) is lost or stolen then operators can send a code through TSshield and the unit will be disabled.
