Position Partners to offer iDig 2D excavator control

Position Partners has announced it will be offering the iDig line of 2D machine control systems for excavators

I Dig -2d -excavator -control -system

The iDig machine control system uses real-time indications of depth, distance and slope to keep arm and bucket movements on track. The system enables operators to do everything from within the cab, removing the need for a grade checker or surveyor and also reducing fuel waste and downtime.

The iDig system requires no welding, using sensors that are fitted directly to the boom using a 3M adhesive solution. No wiring along the arm is needed as the sensors interact with the cab control box by radio and the system runs on solar power so no charging is required.

The simple set-up allows the iDig system to be transferred from one machine to another with minimal interruption, which also increases the unit’s cost-effectiveness.

Once an initial bucket start point has been entered, position data from the censors is displayed in-cab on a 7-inch touchscreen, while coloured LED indicator lights let the operator know when they’re approaching target.

Position Partners says the iDig system is unique in that it has been built from the ground up for 2D positioning, which also increases the system’s versatility.

“iDig has been built specifically as a 2D system for 2D applications on any job sites,” Position Partners machine systems product manager Joel Seddon says.

“It is not a 3D system with 3D technology simply taken out of it – so it’s very intuitive, and extremely simple to use, thanks to the large icons, the 800 x 480 pixel resolution and highly responsive 7″ touch screen.”

“When placed on a mini or large excavator, the iDig machine control system enables you to carry the benchmark with you, including height and slope guidance, across an entire job site; it completely negates the need for a grade checker or standalone laser receiver on your machine,” Seddon continues.
