Established in 1996, C-Wise recycles a wide variety of wastes into organic compost. The company is a leading Western Australian supplier of high quality carbon-based soil improvement products.

At C-Wise’s 40-hectare organic composting facility in Nambeelup in the state’s southwest, the company’s fleet of Volvo wheel loaders are humming along quietly as they shift compost loads with an average bulk density of between 600kg and 1,000kg per cubic meter.

"We currently use four Volvo loaders on site, and just purchased our 13th Volvo loader to replace the oldest one, which had logged about 10,000 hours," C-Wise operations manager Clint Liddelow says.

C-Wise opted for Volvo’s new L110H wheel loader - the first to arrive in Australia - and the new machine is being used solely for dispatching organic compost for around 50 hours per week.

"We really like the L110H’s productivity, fuel-efficiency and the quieter engine which is a result of the enclosed engine bay," Liddelow says.

"The OptiShift and dual-direction self-levelling bucket on the L110H really help improve our operators’ cycle time during the composting process.

"Plus, operators say they really appreciate the improved dash and personalized setting options," Liddelow adds.

The L110H is powered by an eight litre Tier 4 Final diesel and has an operating weight between 18 and 20 tonnes.

The loader also features a new generation of Volvo’s OptiShift technology to improve cycle times and fuel efficiency. The system works by integrating the ‘Reverse By Braking’ function with the torque converter to create a direct drive between the engine and transmission, eliminating costly power losses.
