The JCB Hydradig Wastemaster is a digging, lifting, loading and tool-carrying solution engineered with municipal waste and recycling operations in mind.

The Wastemaster wheeled excavator features a full FOPS cab with all-around visibility from the operator’s chair. From ground level the all-round visibility also allows ground staff to see the operator at all times. In addition a white noise reversing alarm and red and white chevrons also help to improve site safety.

The 11.5-tonne Hydradig Wastemaster sits on a sturdy all-wheel drive, four-wheel steer chassis based on JCB’s Loadall telehandler range. This gives the Wastemaster three-mode steering for increased manoeuvrability and stability when travelling at speed.

The 81kW Tier 4 EcoMAX engine is side-mounted on the lower structure of the Wastemaster, which gives the machine a centre of gravity much lower than that seen on comparable 10 tonne plus models.

Mounting the engine to the lower chassis means the upper structure has a reduced tailswing of just 120mm, allowing the Wastemaster to work on the most confined waste sites and landfills.

“The lower centre of gravity also makes the JCB Hydradig Wastemaster incredibly stable when working with selecting and materials handling rabs at full reach,” JCB CEA national excavator and wheeled loader product manager Deon Cope says.

“The reduced tailswing means the JCB Hydradig Wastemaster can lift more than competitive conventional tailswing machines,” Cope adds.

Customers can choose between a monoboom or a triple-articulating TAB boom, with three dipper lengths of 1,650mm, 2,000mm and 2,250mm to suit a range of applications.

JCB has also streamlined maintenance with all daily service checks able to be carried out from ground level with a lift-up engine canopy providing access to the engine and filters.

“The JCB Hydradig Wastemaster offers the best SAE service rating in its class – 33 per cent better than its closest competitor – and there is no requirement for operators to climb on the upper structure for regular maintenance,” Cope says.
