National Heavy Haulage delivers Liebherr T 282 C dump trucks to BHP
A fleet of five of some of the world’s biggest trucks has touched down in central Queensland.
Delivered by National Group’s heavy transport solutions arm, National Heavy Haulage (NHH), the Ultra-Class Liebherr T 282 C dump trucks will service BHP’s Peak Downs mine site.
The vehicles boast an unladen weight of 260 tonnes, or a whopping 130 standard cars each, and have a payload capacity of 400 tonnes.
Red Bull recently listed the Liebherr T 282 C as the equal second-largest mining truck on the planet.
The trucks required police escort and road closures from Mackay to Peak Downs over five separate trips throughout September and October.
NHH general manager Ian Scott says he was struck by the sheer size of these machines but the task was manageable.
“We utilise top of the range Kenworth prime movers and Drake heavy duty trailers, so when you combine these with a team focused on safely delivering the biggest and best equipment there is, nothing is too hard or too big to shift.”
National Group managing director Mark Ackroyd adds: “This was not your everyday type of haul. It takes a highly efficient and reliable team to deliver a haul of this size and our NHH guys were able to do it without any concerns at all.”
The trucks will undergo a final on-site assemble by National Mining Services before being officially handed over to BHP for work.
