Since its launch, the EC200D excavator has gained positive feedback from customers in the Indian market

Volvo’s new EC200D excavator is gaining momentum with increased orders and buzz generated from positive customer feedback, says the company. With high swing torque and low cycle time, it’s the fastest machine in the 20-ton excavator class.

Customers in India, from individual operators to dealers and rental companies, are raving about the new EC200D, thanks to the excavator’s high efficiency, productivity and ease of use, says Volvo.

Formally launched in India during EXCON 2017, the 20-ton excavator’s high swing torque and lifting abilities help achieve a low cycle time during mass excavations, making it the fastest machine in its class, which means outstanding productivity for its customers, it says.

“Many construction companies aspire to owning a Volvo and with this new EC200D we’re making it easier than ever for Indian customers to add one to their fleet,” said Dimitrov Krishnan, vice president and head of Volvo CE India.

“Our expectations are high for this new machine given the strong growth demand expected in this equipment category. We’re also expecting strong interest from rental companies. The specifications and design of the EC200D make it a perfect option for the rental industry.”

The EC200D is configured with a 5.7m boom, 2.5m arm and 0.92 cubic metre bucket, with an option of a 2.9m arm and a 0.8 cubic metre general purpose bucket, along with compatible hydraulics providing a maximum breakout force of 116kN. Powered by a Volvo D5E Tier 3 engine to provide an output of 123kW at 2,000 rpm, the EC200D has impressed Indian customers with its performance in general construction and road construction, earthworks, material handling, sand mining and irrigation projects, says Volvo.

Together with the sister machine, the EC210D, which was launched in India two years ago, Volvo CE says that it now offers an extremely competitive customer offering in the 20-ton excavator class.

The EC210D is particularly well-suited to heavy-duty applications such as mining, quarrying and demolition. It can be equipped with either a top or side mounted Volvo hydraulic breaker built to break even the most demanding materials, delivering consistent power and high breaking force.
