South-western Sydney civil contracting company TRN Group has recently added two new Kobelco SK135SR-5 Tier 4 Final excavators to its fleet and is putting them to work straight away.

TRN Group has been operating for over 50 years, specialising in equipment hire, earthmoving, quarrying and haulage, and is based near Narellan in NSW. Its new Kobelco midi excavators are working on new subdivisions across Emerald Hills and Oran Park, and TRN Group operations manager David Fordham says they have been very well received by their operators.
“The guys have found the machines really easy to work with. They especially like the size and comfort of the cab and all the bells and whistles they come with,” Fordham says.
The cab of the SK135SR is four per cent roomier than the previous model, says Kobelco, is rollover protection system compliant and comes with fitted with GEOSCAN, Kobelco’s Excavator Remote Monitoring System, which is designed to allow customers to access their machine information remotely such as location data, operating hours, fuel consumption and machine maintenance.
“We’ve been purchasing Kobelco machinery for 10 years because they are quality, high performance machines,” Fordham says.
“We already have a 30 tonne SK330-10 and we chose to add the SK135SRs because of their manoeuvrability in spaces with tight access. Working on housing subdivisions, we’re working in a lot of small spaces and this model is easy to move around, particularly because of its offset boom.”
The SK135SR-5 has a maximum digging depth of 4.92 metres, and Fordham and his team have found them great for trenching or pipeline work.
“These machines can get the job done, they are reliable and always perform. We would definitely recommend them to other contractors out there looking for a quality machine they can count on,” he says.
“Our local Kobelco dealer Sydney Trucks and Machinery Centre has been great to work with. They’re just down the road from us, so it’s great to support another local business in the region. They have always been really quick in helping us out with any questions or support we need.”
