Kobelco says its new SK135SR-7 excavator takes power and efficiency even further in its 15-tonne range.

Kobelco adds to 15 tonne excavator range
The Kobelco SK135SR-7 is currently available Australia-wide

Now on sale across Australia, the 15 tonne short radius SK135SR-7 excavator launched by Kobelco Construction Machinery Australia (KCMA) in July boasts new features to make it comfortable, powerful and efficient, the manufacturer says.

The excavator’s new 3 litre Isuzu diesel engine has a 10 per cent increase in engine output when compares to the SK135SR-5, it says, with now loss of power on gradients or with heavy bucket loads.

Complete with a new hydraulic control system, this reduces digging cycle time by 10 per cent, when compared with the previous model.

It also comes with an additional tilt/rotate circuit with a dedicated pump being fitted in addition to primary bi-directional auxiliary hydraulics, which Kobelco says helps make it a versatile, multi-purpose machine.

This is helped by an advanced hydraulic control system automatically balances and optimises the machine for different attachments when the operator selects one of seven pre-set hydraulic attachment control modes.

Kobelco’s Integrated Noise and Dust Reduction System (iNDr) helps the SK135SR-7 operate quietly, while also making it easier to service by allowing easy access to the air filter, now mounted in front of the radiator system.

To help improve operator comfort and ease of use, the SK135SR-7 boasts a 25cm colour monitor – which Kobelco says the largest in-cab visual information screen within the excavator industry.

The monitor shows all machine status information, function menus and the views from cameras on the rear, right and left which Kobelco says provides a unique "eagle-eye" view, allowing full 270 degree machine perimeter visibility.

Monitor functions are controlled by a modern multifunction jog-type dial that allows control even with gloved hands, and is also LED backlit for ease of operation.

Inside its sealed and pressurised cabin is a heated and air-cushioned suspension seat that incorporates the joystick and armrests as one unit, so any movement of the seat means the operator remains comfortable and in full control.

The excavator also has an LED door lamp, LED backlighting on all control switches and a Bluetooth integrated stereo system with hands-free calling support allows operators to stay connected while safely in control of the job at hand.

Kobelco marketing manager Chris Wolf says the company is committed to designing efficient excavators.

"The SK135SR-7 delivers on Kobelco’s mission to combine unbeatable performance with modern machine design in its latest generation of excavators, reinforcing its position as the market leader in this class in Australia," he says.

The Kobelco SK135SR-7 is available at dealers around Australia and New Zealand.
