CNH makes Accenture, Microsoft deal

CNH Industrial will work with Accenture and Microsoft to bolster connectivity of its Case Construction and Iveco products, among others

CNH Industrial, the parent company of Case Construction, New Holland Construction and Iveco, has signed a five-year deal with Accenture and Microsoft to help it develop better-connected products and services.

Under the deal, CNH will also build a network of digital hubs in Brazil, Europe, India and the United States, where the three companies will design and manage new digital services to make CNH products smarter, more functional, secure and sustainable.

CNH Industrial chief strategy, talent, ICT and digital officer Andreas Weishaar says the new hubs will help give its products new services and functionalities in a variety of areas, including computer-aided farming, predictive maintenance, enhanced fleet management and green transportation.

“Over the next five years, we’ll team with Accenture and Microsoft in an integrated and agile manner to build and operate these digital factories and to deliver positive impacts for customers and dealers, communities and the environment,” he says.

CNH Industrial also plans to develop a broad set of data-driven digital services to help clients drive sustainability, such as yield improvement in agriculture and more-efficient vehicles and improved fleet management in the transportation industry.

Together with Avanade, its joint venture with Microsoft, Accenture will design, build, test and scale the new digital services, while Microsoft will provide industry experts and consulting services to product developers.

The groups hope to produce a range of digital services to support new connected products using technologies such as advanced analytics, artificial intelligence, the internet of things and cloud computing.

“We’re excited to be part of this collaboration to help CNH Industrial innovate and realise its digital transformation, which is particularly important at a time when every industry has been deeply affected by the pandemic,” says Axel Schmidt, a senior managing director at Accenture who leads its automotive practice globally.

Microsoft, which has been working with CNH Industrial since 2018, says it hopes the new products will help streamline daily operations of CNH Industrial’s brands’ customers and contribute to the sustainable growth of the industry, Microsoft Italy global business director of automotive Marco Giletta says.

“With the close collaboration among all players, CNH Industrial will have access to the most innovative technological platform and industry skills, as well as the ability to create digital projects, fostering the company’s digital transformation.”

The move comes after Case Construction Equipment launched the next generation of its SiteWatch telematics platform earlier this year, saying its improved dashboard offered more intuitive navigation and new overview sections that spotlight critical information.

The new dashboard features an easy-to-read horizontal menu at the top of the screen above five widgets that focus on core operating information such as an equipment summary, equipment search, fuel level reports and alarm status.

An easy dropdown menu makes critical reports on factors such as equipment utilisation, fuel consumption and maintenance just a click away, and topline menu buttons take users immediately to fleet and maintenance overviews. Additional reports highlighting specific alerts and fault codes are also available.

Case Australia New Zealand product manager James Pike says that telematics data from construction equipment is only useful if it easy to understand and to engage with.

“The new Case SiteWatch telematics platform presents users with a high level of critical data on a very clear and intuitive dashboard, and then puts all critical machine and performance data within just a click or two, whether you’re at your desk or on your tablet in the field,” he says.

Case SiteWatch comes standard with all Case heavy equipment featuring a three-year advanced subscription and three-year/5,000-hour full-machine factory warranty and planned maintenance as a part of the ProCover machine support program.
