John Deere has showcased the biggest dozer in its range to the Western Australian market for the first time

The 1050K Tier 2 crawler dozer has an operating weight of 44 tonnes and has been designed to provide greater fuel efficiency and control without sacrificing power.

The 1050K is completely hydrostatically driven, which Afgri sales representative Leigh Esplan says brings multiple benefits.

"You don’t have to worry about which gear you are in or what the engine RPM is doing, which gives you more time to just push dirt," he says.

"It also makes it extremely fuel efficient and more controllable. It can counter-rotate on the spot and you can even push a pile of dirt in an arc.

As it is hydrostatically driven, it’s a lot more efficient way to get the power to the ground and your load on the engine isn’t so great."

The 1050K runs with 350hp (261kW) and 1,576Nm of torque, single and multi-shank ripper options, an Eco mode with fuel savings of up to 15 per cent and suspended double-bogie undercarriage to reduce vibrations and minimise breakdowns and wear.

There is also a Power Pitch option, which Esplan describes as a dual cylinder on the blade.

"It just helps you with more mobility on the blade left and right, you can push material off and carry it a bit better as well," he says.

Comfort and accessibility have also been considered with the 1050K.

The cab can tilt up to 70 degrees, providing clear access to drivetrain components, while large hinged doors give access to dipsticks, filters and fill tubes.

Inside the cab, the seat is angled 15 degrees to provide a clear view of the rear ripper and it can be adjusted seven ways for operator comfort, while the armrests and footrests are also adjustable.

Esplan says there has been considerable interest in the 1050K and he expects more units to arrive on Australian shores soon.
