Ram Trucks announce new 3500 Laramie crew cab ute

Ram Trucks Australia has released the biggest dual-cab ute in its range, the all-new Ram 3500 Laramie crew cab

The all-new Ram 3500 starts at $162,950

Ram Trucks Australia says its latest release, the Laramie 3500 crew  cab, comes to the Australian market after many hours of testing – for  durability, real-world driving and rolling road testing.

With a design that focuses on ride and handling, luxury, materials, innovation and technology, the new model is one of a series of Ram Trucks uniquely developed with right hand drive for the Australian market.

Powered by a 6.7-litre inline 6 Cummins turbodiesel, the 3500 delivers 276kW and 1,152Nm, allowing for a max braked towing capacity of up to eight tonnes. Its two-stage longitudinal leaf solid axle allows for a payload of up to 1,724kg.

“The all-new 3500 completes the task we set ourselves at the start of 2021: to deliver a full range of fit-for-purpose vehicles for the Australian consumer,” Ram Trucks Australia national manager Jeff Barber says.

“The 3500 is a remarkable vehicle that cements our product offering in 2021. Only Ram Trucks Australia can deliver such a vehicle thanks to our robust and detailed planning, development, remanufacturing and testing program in conjunction with our local and global partners including Stellantis [formerly Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, US].”

Inside there is a luxury feel to the fitout

The 3500 Laramie now sits atop a wide range of Ram trucks, beginning with the 1500 Express Quad at $79,950 and moving up through the express crew cab, Warlock II, 1500 Laramie and Limited variants and the recently released 2500 Laramie.

The aforementioned solid axle is the main difference between the 3500 and 2500 Laramie.

It allows for almost double the payload in the 3500 while also increasing the maximum rear axle load by about 700kg.

Overall, the Ram 3500 weighs in at almost a tonne heavier than the 2500, having a gross vehicle mass of about 5,400kg compared to  about 4,500kg with the 2500.

Prices for the Ram 3500 start at $162,950 plus on road costs for the Laramie crew cab.
