RDO Vermeer names top Aussie technician

Three Queenslanders were named the top technicians for Vermeer equipment in the company’s recent awards showcase

Justin Spinks has taken out Service Technician of the Year at the inaugural RDO Vermeer Technician Awards.

Spinks, a technician from Vermeer Australia’s Richlands branch, was crowned the winner at the Awards, which took place in Brisbane in late August.

He was one of three winners at the Technician Awards, which recognised the achievements of service and parts technicians throughout the Vermeer Australian dealer network.

Finalists met in Brisbane prior to the awards ceremony where they competed in hands-on testing and training across Vermeer’s equipment range before joining colleagues, management and family members at the event.

After winning Service Technician of the Year, Spinks said he was optimistic about the future of Vermeer.

“Thank you to RDO for the opportunity and the privilege to participate in these awards. Congratulations to the other finalists in my category, and I also thank all those who have helped me throughout my career to master the skills I have developed,” Spinks said.

“I’m looking forward to continuing to represent the company, and helping our customers to chip and grind, drill or trench, vacuum or load with the best machines around.”

Daniel Ryan, also from the Vermeer Richlands branch in Queensland, was named Parts Interpreter of the Year, while Toby Jones from the Townsville branch won Apprentice Service Technician of the Year.

“I feel humbled to have been awarded Parts Technician of the Year and am proud to be part of such a great organisation, full of amazing, talented people who make RDO a fun and fantastic place to work and build a long-lasting career,” Ryan says.

Established this year, the awards were presented to Vermeer Australia’s specialised service and parts technicians who have excelled across all aspects of the job, from exceptional customer service to excellent technical and diagnostic skills.

In all, nine technicians were nominated across the three categories.

RDO Equipment chief executive Phil Canning says the awards are a great opportunity to acknowledge the work done by technicians.

“We established these awards as we know we have a great team of technicians across our Vermeer network, and we want to recognise their achievements and raise awareness of the amazing career opportunities at RDO Equipment and Vermeer Australia, as well as focusing on continuously developing and training our team,” Canning says.

“Our inaugural winners are a credit to the Vermeer Australia brand and show the depth of experience our entire team has across Vermeer’s market-leading, innovative machinery. From our experienced service techs and parts interpreters to an up-and-coming apprentice, our customers are in capable hands when it comes to their Vermeer equipment.”
