Geospatial and positioning company Position Partners has acquired RDS Australia, and will use its sales muscle to distribute the company’s on-board weighing solutions for heavy machinery such as loaders, excavators and telehandlers throughout Australia and South East Asia.
The move follows the March 2015 acquisition of RDS Technology and its parent company Digi-Star by Topcon Positioning Group.
“As Topcon’s exclusive Australian partner for geospatial and positioning technology, we are delighted to announce the acquisition agreement with the local RDS Technology provider, RDS Australia,” Position Partners machine systems business manager Harry Katsanevas says.
“By combining RDS Australia’s know-how and experience with Position Partners’ national sales and technical support team, we can offer customers local service for all their on-board weighing needs.”
Designed for the construction, mining and industrial sectors, RDS on-board weighing systems deliver accurate weight information to machine operators via a cab-mounted control box. This can reduce return trips to the stockpile, saving on fuel usage and machine wear, the company says.
Position Partners will distribute the full range of RDS systems, including Loadmaster Alpha 100 for loaders, Loadex 100 for excavators and Weighlog Alpha 10 for compact loaders, telehandlers and skid-steer loaders.
“This agreement will make RDS solutions more accessible for customers,” RDS Australia managing director Chris Nussey says. “Position Partners’ large team has extensive knowledge of heavy equipment, having installed and supported Topcon machine control systems for many years.”
RDS Australia employees will join the Position Partners team, based in its Brisbane office in Acacia Ridge.
