Video review: Heking HK150SD floating excavator
Amphibious excavators are excellent for working in boggy, swampy, wet areas and waterways, but they’re not for inexperienced operators, says Earthmovers & Excavators reviewer RON HORNER.
Ron was recently granted access to a sediment basin in the Gold Coast suburb of Pacific Pines — part of the Gold Coast City Council’s ‘Clean Waterways Project’ — and got his hands on a Heking HK150SD floating excavator being used to clear the basin of weeds and reeds.
In the above video, Ron checks out how the machine handles work in shallow and deep water, and how it stands up to the unusual demands which a water environment places on an excavator.
