The late 60s/early 70s was a time of change in the machinery business as manufacturers moved from the old chain-driven machines to this new, modern system of hydraulics. The 1968 Kato 750G is an excavator that spanned both the old and new worlds.

“This particular machine is in a transitionary phase between the old cable operated excavators where they had chain drive, but didn’t have hydraulics,” Ron says.

“This version, which was brand-spanking new in its day, has a hydraulic upper carriage, but has still got the chain-drive underneath. It’s looks a bit dinosaur-ish for us these days.”
