With a significant range of attachments available for excavators, wheel loaders, telehandlers, tractors, skid steers and more, Roo Attachments ensures the highest quality of production – starting from the design and the steel it chooses to buy to the final product’s delivery.
Having recently expanded its manufacturing operations in China, under the name of Fishburn Heavy Fabrication in Zhangzhou, Roo Attachments is also further expanding its presence in Australia. With the recent acquisition of Bucketman in Victoria, Roo Attachments is now operating out of Gisborne South, while a third location will open soon in Gingin, WA.
“The Roo Attachments brand was started in China in 2010 by Australian James Fishburn, and we then set up our Australian business four years later to better service this market,” owner Tim Moss says.
“But the company has always been Australian-owned and Australian-operated and we own all our own attachment designs.
“We have our own factory in China so that we control the manufacturing process from start to finish. The steel we buy is primarily made from Australian iron ore, and only comes from the most reputable steel plants in China, so that we know we’re getting good quality fully refined steel.
“We use high quality quenched and tempered wear plate (BIS or HARDOX 400, 450, and 500 grades of steel) in the high wearing areas of our attachments – making them much more abrasion resistant and ideal for the quarry and mining industries.
“We also use Japanese Kobelco welding wire because of its superior quality and its hardness, making the welds last longer in heavy applications.
“We are already heavily focused on the construction market and the strategy now is to push hard into the quarry and mining markets where we believe we can offer a highly abrasion resistant product at a much lower price than what the market has had to pay in the past for similar quality, with our heavy duty rock buckets already in operation in a number of quarries around Australia.”
The new factory is allowing Roo Attachments to improve the efficiency of the manufacturing process as well as reduce costs.
“We’re in the process of installing a new a new laser cutter, multiple welding robots, CNC machining centres and Panasonic welders, and the new powder coated painting line is already in operation,” Moss says.
“I think we’ll be the only ones in Australia with a powder coated paint finish on our attachments, which adds to the presentation and protection of the product.”
Huge offering
Roo Attachments has a vast range of attachments available for excavators from one tonne up to 600 tonnes, skid steers, wheel loaders, telehandlers and tractors. These are sold through many OEMs and dealers across Australia, and also direct to end-user customers.
A new partnership between Fishburn Heavy Fabrication and ground engagement tool (GET) manufacturer BYG Futura is also seeing Roo Attachments’ equipment being offered with this premium brand of teeth and other wear parts.
“At Diesel Dirt & Turf we had a Komatsu PC 2000 heavy duty rock bucket on display complete with the BYG Futura hammerless GET installed,” Roo Attachments business development manager Rob Price says.
“That was a 200-tonne excavator bucket and we used it to showcase two things. Firstly, our partnership with BYG Futura, which is vitally important for what we’re doing moving forward, but also to show people that we’re not just doing the smaller attachments.
“We’ve recently sold multiple wheel loader buckets for some of the largest wheel loaders on the market, for example. We also sell a lot of the wheel loader hi dump or toe tip buckets, which are a special application bucket.”
Roo Attachments maintains a large stock at its warehouse in Port Kembla, with over 3,500 items ready to go.
“We carry attachments for all makes and models,” Price says.
“The fact that we have those huge stock holdings over here is a significant benefit for our customers.
“If you’re looking at our attachments for just 1.7-tonne excavators for example, you’re looking at about 15 or 20 different brands that we cater for and we have in stock.”
With each stage of the design, construction and delivery process handled by the business, Roo Attachments prides itself on being a manufacturer, not just an importer.
“We stand by our warranty, and we stand behind our products,” Moss says.
“If there is an issue, we get it sorted and keep the customer happy. That’s the core of what we do, and that’s why so much of our businesses is repeat business from customers.”
