Sandvik has opened a new repair, rebuild and support centre in Orange to service Central West New South Wales mining customers using its rock drilling, excavation, processing and handling equipment.
The Orange High Productivity Centre features a high-tech workshop with paint booth, and a warehouse, and will serve as a base for field services.
“Our Orange facility — as one of four of these centres nationally — will set new standards for safety and environmental performance, service efficiency and turnaround times for our Central West customers,” Sandvik Mining Vice President, Sales Area Australia, Jim Tolley says.
The Orange centre’s workshop and warehouse are both larger than Sandvik’s old facility in the area, Tolley says, adding that is now employs 40 staff.
“Because of our standardised processes and readily available spare parts, we can provide rapid and cost-efficient repairs,” Tolley says. “This includes the ability to rebuild equipment to as-new condition, to Sandvik’s OEM specifications and standards, and with full factory warranty.”
Service centres in Cobar and Broken Hill complement the facility and extend the field service team’s coverage. Services include: repairs and breakdown services; servicing assistance; fault diagnosis; machine condition audits; scheduled maintenance; service maintenance agreements; and machine tune-ups.
The warehouse component of the Orange High Productivity Centre will serve as the regional facility for the entire NSW Central West.
“In most cases, we can now provide immediate replacement of parts and components for all types of Sandvik equipment used in this region,” Tolley says.
