  • RefCode: DIY467409
  • Class: Prime Mover

This Mack was manufactured in 1962. It was one of only 550 to come off the assembly line in the U.S.A. Two were purchased by Antill Ranger and imported into Australia to operate a shuttle service between Sydney and Adelaide. Because of their high cab profile they were christened the Cherry Pickers. Unfortunately some years later one of them was written off in an accident leaving only one of its models in Australia. Following a long period of service and some 800,000 km, the surviving Mack was purchased by a Mr Peter Gudgeon of Sydney who used it for general semi-trailer work subcontracting to Mayne Nickless. In 1966 it was sold to Frank Fleming & sons (earthmoving) Pty Ltd who operated it for fifteen years as a prime mover in conjunction with their low loader hauling their earthmoving equipment over most of Queensland. In 1981 it was retired and subjected to a meticulous restoration. It is now residence at the Gatton Lockyer truck museum and cultural centre at Gatton in Queensland.
