Equipment focus: ShawX attachments

There’s nothing like a bit of Australian made ingenuity, that mixed with a can-do approach to solving issues faced by local operators has given Queensland equipment manufacturer ShawX an edge

ShawX tilt buckets gives the operator full radial control of the cutting angle by allowing for a continuous variation of the cutting edge, relative to the inclination of the machine.

“We build these tilt buckets with the operator in mind,” ShawX representative Brett Shaw says. “The shape of the bucket is unique, the fact you can get 47-degree tilt on these buckets is huge.”

Tilt buckets are generally preferred among contractors performing precision work such as batters, drains and final trim work. The main focus of the design was reducing the distance between the tilt centre and the cutting edge, this in turn also lowers the main pick up point, which increases the breakout performance and allows for a lot smoother tilting action.

The curve of the bucket is also unique and is fabricated in a way that reduces wear and tear on the bottom of the bucket.

“We manufacture the complete bucket, like all our attachments in our workshop in Cleveland, Brisbane. Not one component is manufactured elsewhere and we are very proud of that.

“Repairing buckets in our workshop has given us the ability to develop and refine our design over the years.  We have seen that a lack of grease is one of the major factors for tilt bucket wear. Our design allows the operators greater access to grease the bucket for extended bucket life.

“After using a variety of different styles and brands of buckets, we believe our tilt bucket is a great value for money product that all contractors cannot do without.”

Shaw -X-tipper

EjectX tipper

With the new innovation plough, along with a horizontal ram, the EjectX pushes material through the body as the tailgate automatically lifts while the body remains in a stable, horizontal position, as opposed to a conventional tipper.

This design has major benefits for jobs where operating a conventional tip truck comes with too many potential hazards and is currently being used by contractors working on the Toowoomba Second Range Crossing.

“Our EjectX can be used on uneven surfaces, under trees, powerlines — the safety benefits are huge because it doesn’t physically tip,” Brett explains. “Virtually, wherever you can drive the truck, you can unload it without any hassles.”

“We originally custom-designedthe EjectX for one of our customers who had major concerns over tipping such large trucks in confined areas and on unstable ground.

“EjectX uses a plough inside a body to push the contents out of the rear, rather than using gravity –without the need to tip the body at all. Unlike a live-floor truck, the EjectX has no boundaries to its hauling capabilities. From asphalt or sand to concrete and demolition material you can eject it all with a ShawX Ejector Body.”

Unsurprisingly, ShawX is experiencing great interest from operators who are concerned about using a conventional tip truck on those tricky jobs.

“With safety becoming a major concern of all Tier 1 contractors, this is ShawX’s answer to all your haulage troubles.”
