Ron Horner takes a closer look at an 8,000-hour Sumitomo SH210 excavator doing some complex and dirty environmental remediation work

We first came across this Sumitomo SH210 around a year ago, when it helped rescue a Heking HK150SD amphibious excavator that had sunk to the bottom of a lake.
Twelve months on and the Sumi is still going strong, helping to clear out some swamp land in SE Queensland’s granite country.
“The thing that I do like about it is that it has powerful track drive motors which gets us through all this rubbish country up here,” Ron says.
“Up here in the engine bay is a nice little tidy 4-cylinder turbocharged 160hp Isuzu, which delops plenty of power.
“This machine just performs spot on.”
