Terex PT-110 compact track loader built for Aussies

The new Terex PT-110 is a Posi-Track compact track loader (CTL) that is built specifically for Australian conditions and builds on the legacy of the PT-100G by adding better power and performance, improving safety features and lowering running costs. It’s also more environmentally friendly.

ASV Sales & Service staff say they were “blown away” by the PT-100G when it arrived in Australia in 2012, describing it as a benchmark machine. At that point the company had spent 10 years of testing, operation and feedback with Terex.

“We were content, until … the release of the brand new PT-110, a Posi-Track Loader that was specifically developed to handle the rigours of Australian conditions,” ASV director Craig Doran says.

In addition to other features, the PT-110 addes a new range of cooling packages, extra horsepower, fuel savings and increased hydraulic power.

The compact track loader’s Tier 4-compliant Perkins four-cylinder diesel engine delivers 111 horsepower (82.7kW) and 450Nm of torque while being quieter, more fuel efficient and more environmentally friendly than its Tier 3 predecessor.

“The engine is both liquid cooled and after-cooled, with a hydraulic reversing fan for optimum cooling and the bonus of not sacrificing engine horsepower,” Doran says. “This new fan design is perfect for the application.”

High flow hydraulics are standard, with the PT-110 being capable of 170 lpm at 3800psi, meaning it will run just about any attachment on the market with ease, Doran says.

One such attachment is the Schibeci ST1000, he adds: “ASV Sales & Service has a long standing relationship with Schibeci and they have come up with a perfect match here. The ST1000 is the largest of the Schibeci milling attachments. It is primarily designed as a road stabilising machine, but can also mill and level asphalt.”

The ST1000 has a cutting width of 1000mm wide per pass and is suitable to multiple applications from tough road works to millimetre-accurate inner-city milling jobs. The unit is able to use interchangeable cutter drums.

The Terex PT-110 has a driver control pattern selectable from ISO to H with pedal-controlled engine speed and pilot-operated joystick control. Loader speed and sensitivity are adjustable, with a two-speed hydrostatic drive system enabling a fast 16km/h travel speed as well as high-torque work speed.

The undercarriage has a patented multi-level torsion axle suspension with floating centre wheels and maintenance-free metal face sealed bearings.

This, ASV says, delivers excellent traction and flotation on any underfoot condition — leading, in turn, to “superb handling and the smoothest ride over even the roughest terrain”, which is good news for operators.

Also adding to operator comfort and productivity is a sealed and pressurised cabin which gives a cleaner, dust-free environment even in Australia’s harsh, dry summers.

The cooling system and reversible fan reduce the need for frequent oil cooler cleaning and allow the PT-110 to work in extreme temperatures for extended intervals, the company says.

Terex PT-110F forestry package

Moving into the woods, the forestry-package PT-110F has a number of standard integrated protection features, including adjustable suspension contour seats, built-in operator presence switch, lap bar and seat belt.

The ROPS cabin meets Level 2 FOPS and Forestry Machine FOPS standards (ISO 3449 and ISO 8083).

Other features include a heavy-duty polycarbonate door, full rear brush guard, fuel tank and aircon guards, rear limb risers, a screened engine air pre-cleaner and 375mm ground clearance.

Redesigned engine hoods provide greater engine bay access for servicing and maintenance, while the reinforced steel belly-pans are hinged to allow for periodic clean-out of the belly of the machine, enabling removal of any material build-up.

The PT-110 has an improved tipping load of 3901kg and is capable of running a number of optional attachments, from auger and bits, backhoe, rotary broom, a variety of buckets, rotary brush cutter, dozer blade, land leveller, mulching head, pallet forks, power box rake, stump grinder, trencher and vibratory roller.

ASV says this compact track loader is suitable for a range of applications, such as vegetation management, road maintenance, bush work, civil construction and general contracting.
