Specialising in used Cat equipment, second-hand earthmoving machinery dealer TracForce will scour the globe to get you the best machinery at the best prices
With over 30 years in the industry, Steve Heather doesn’t mind getting his hands dirty.
The TracForce managing director is a plant mechanic by trade, so he knows his way around most earthmoving machines on the market.
Having previously worked in civil construction in NSW, Steve strived for more than just an employee’s wage, so he seized the opportunity to start his own used equipment company when it came along, forming TracForce in partnership with the owner of the construction business he was working for at the time.
TracForce
Formed in 2009, TracForce is a second-hand earthmoving machinery dealer based in the Central Coast and Lower Hunter Region of NSW.
Sourcing earthmoving and construction machinery internationally, Steve says the business supplies almost all of its equipment to the Australian market.
“I buy from half a dozen suppliers all over the world who I’ve been dealing with for 30 years. I trust them 110 per cent,” he says.
“The biggest problem in this industry today is you can count on one hand the amount of people you can trust to that degree, so we pride ourselves on honesty and integrity.”
Since forming the business, Steve has built strong relationships around the globe as a trusted dealer in quality machinery, with a particular focus on the Caterpillar brand.
Having worked at a Caterpillar dealership for 23 years before owning TracForce, Steve understands the strengths of the Cat brand and its models. This is why 95 per cent of his purchases are Cat branded, although he sometimes adds Volvo articulated dump trucks to the mix as well.
TracForce has a long-standing supply relationship with several Cat dealerships including Empire (southwest USA), Mustang (southeast Texas USA) and Finning (South America, Canada and Europe), to name a few.
Currently, TracForce has Cat machinery ranging from 980M and 982M wheel loaders, 623K elevating scrapers, D10T2 and D6TXL dozers and 730C2 articulated dump trucks. The second-hand earthmoving machinery dealer has also fitted two of its Cat articulated dump trucks with 6,000-gallon (22,712-litre) Comet water tanks.
Sourcing from trusted Cat dealers over many years, Steve says customers can be assured they are getting only the very best used machinery at affordable prices.
“Like our clients, we see the value for money and affordability of purchasing quality used machinery,” he says.
“We are trusted specialists who offer exceptional value for money with a reputation for delivery.”
Customer needs
With a client’s needs front of mind, if TracForce doesn’t have the right machine in stock for a customer, Steve says the business will make it a priority to look all over the globe to find it.
“We’ll go to the ends of the earth to find the machine you need and it won’t cost the earth,” he says.
“Our team understands the earthmoving and mining industries and can work with you and our suppliers to find the right machines that meet your needs, project and budget.”
While the business does have strong international supplier relationships, it also has the capability to source machinery outside its supplier network – thoroughly inspecting it prior to purchase to ensure quality and affordability.
To ensure risks are minimised when shipping machinery, Steve says TracForce’s freight network is strict about shipping, as the heavy equipment is never shipped as deck cargo.
“Our freight network moves machinery worldwide onboard trucks, and all freight movements are fully insured so the risk is reduced throughout the whole process,” the managing director says.
If needed to downsize your fleet or dispose of machines, Tracforce also has the capacity and the network to assist in this process.
“We’re happy to help, advertise and put a price on it if someone wants to sell a machine,” Steve says.
