As this enables the driver to face the forward driving direction or the rear-mounted hopper when operating the Lacertis dumpers it gives better vision, improves safety and productivity because fewer manoeuvres are needed, and lowers driver fatigue.

Uromac Australasian agent Forklift Finder Services says the heavy-duty site dumpers “meet the highest standards of safety and service life designed to operate in difficult conditions in construction and mines while delivering exceptional power, low running costs and increased driver satisfaction”.

The Lacertis trucks have an articulated chassis with a 9-tonne payload and a range of features such as a rear-mounted hopper for better visibility, safety and comfort.

They are multipurpose machines designed for a wide variety of attachments, such as a three-way discharging hopper, brush cutter, concrete mixer or snow plough.

The dumpers are powered by a Cat 106kW (142hp) engine, which FFS says delivers a sizeable increase in the power of the machine. The high torque offers more power at lower revs and improves response on steep gradients or poor ground conditions.

The road-rail version of the Lacertis site dumper is equipped with a rail-wheel system to circulate on 1435mm track gauge (others on demand).

It’s designed for railway applications to transport concrete from the truck to the site, ballast to the track or earth and rubble from the rail yard to an outer area.

A shunter version is available with capacities from 700 to 1500 tonnes.
