The Victorian Government is removing 27 level crossings and building 17 new stations, making the Frankston Line level crossing-free by 2029
The Victorian Government has outlined works set to take place in August as part of the Frankston Line level crossings project.
The project will see the removal of level crossings at Warrigal Road, Mentone and Parkers Road, Parkdale, and the building of a new Parkdale Station.
From early August, Parkdale Station will open to passengers, with construction continuing into spring, the government advises.
During this time, there will be stair-only access to platforms.
A shuttle service will continue to operate between Mentone and Mordialloc stations for passengers who are unable to use the stairs.
The government says it will keep people informed about when the station will open, when works are complete and when the lifts are in use.
During August, the Victorian Government will:
- install and commission light poles in the station precinct
- continue commissioning the station lifts
- complete drainage works
- start landscaping and installing pedestrian paths under the rail bridge
- continue road and kerb reinstatement works
- relocate gas utilities
- construct the shared user path and car parking spaces
Works will take place from 7am to 6pm on weekdays and from 7am to 3pm on Saturdays.
What to expect
- Crews using the site office, compounds, and laydown areas
- Moderate to high noise and vibration from machinery, including cranes, excavators, and trucks
- Minor delays and detours on roads and footpaths, and lane closures
- Minor traffic delays near site access gates and increased truck movements and deliveries
- Additional truck movements and vehicles for support crews
