One of the more interesting products we examined at the recent Civenex infrastructure expo in Sydney was Komptech’s Nemus 2700, which cranks the company’s mobile hydraulic drum screens up a notch.

Komptech has been focused on green efficiency in recent years, introducing the Cribus range of electric trommels which are able to reduce energy costs by up to 25 percent using a diesel-electric hybrid drive, or up to a huge 75 percent with mains power. But these don’t appeal to all customers, so the company developed the Nemus 2700, which is an update of the Mustang hydraulic unit with features from the Crebus.
In the video above, Komptech Australia National Service Manager Lachlan Schofield takes us around the new machine, which, he says, has a new control panel, completely automatic startup, higher throughput and better fuel saving. Plus it’s simple to use.
“It’s used for grading different forms of material, whether it be gravel, bark or waste,” Schofield says. You load the large feed hopper at the front —which has steeper side walls for less bridging — and the material is transported through into a screen drum with an area of 30 square metres.
“It comes out the drum via two chutes. [At the rear] you can have an oversized product — your waste product, generally — and out through the side conveyor is your fines, which is your good products.
“This machine now is up to 170 cubic metres an hour. That’s quite high, about a 10 percent improvement on the previous model, which was the Mustang,” he adds. The Mustang is still available to buy. Customers upgrading to the Nemus 2700 can use their existing Mustang drums, as well as drums from the opposition Doppstadt SM 620 screener.
The Nemus 2700 is available as a central axel trailer or semitrailer and features a reinforced chassis with stronger axles and brakes and wider tires. The unit is powered by a 70kW diesel-hydraulic drive, and we like the way it slides out under power from the side of the machine for easy access and maintenance.
Komptech also makes composting and shredding machines. Its products are distributed in Australia and New Zealand by Ditch Witch.
