Volvo Construction Equipment has launched the EC750D excavator on to the Australian market and says it offers improved productivity, fuel efficiency and load-handling capabilities.
The big 74.7-tonne digger is powered by a 374kW Volvo D16 diesel configured to Tier 3 emissions standards, and delivers 2,500Nm of torque. That power, when combined with the 4.4 cubic metre bucket, can deliver a breakout force of 389kW making it suitable for large-scale mining operations.
“The EC750D brings unprecedented levels of productivity to the job sites,” Volvo CE APAC vice-president of sales AM Muralidharan says.
“With this 75 ton class excavator, miners are able to load their trucks quicker thereby enhancing production and optimizing fleet utilization.”
In an effort to combat rising fuel costs, the EC750D’s hydraulics are electronically controlled to deliver fluid on-demand and prevent internal losses. Volvo says this system also gives the machine greater digging force, shorter cycle times and improved handling.
Volvo has increased the track gauge width on the EC750D and also used a heavier counterweight. Volvo says this gives the large excavator increased stability on loose terrain.
The upper and lower frame structures on the EC750D have been made from reinforced steel and the idler frame, track links and bottom rollers have been specifically designed for constant impact, increasing machine life and uptime.
The excavator’s cab is reinforced to reduce noise and has an adjustable air-suspension seat. Large front and side glass panels and slim pillars provide the operator with increased visibility.
Maintenance has been streamlined with all filters and grease points grouped together and accessible via a wide-opening compartment.
